Some silly little bird woke me this morning about 4.30am. He was singing away full throttle. We guess he wanted to tell everybody and anybody what a lucky fellow he was to be alive.
The sun was beginning to appear for what was going to be another day in bird heaven. He was obviously telling us all how grateful he is. Why wouldn’t he be! Our garden supplies the bird life with an appetizing array of insects and pollen. Best of all they have beautiful plump apricots and figs to start the day with – very important these noisy birds eat a balanced diet. We foolishly thought we had planted these fruit trees for our benefit!
We find young children share these same qualities of enthusiasm for life.
Sadly, the daily grind of our commitments wear away our love for life us as the years pass for most of. Understandably, we can become weary. When was the last time you woke with a song in your heart as our noisy friend insists upon doing.
Besides shouldn’t we as human beings strive for more than enough food to eat and a branch to call home? Yes, that is so. However it is a good starting point….
Christmas is nearly upon us. Then it will be a new year for us all. With the new year comes renewed hope. Our enthusiasm returns.
The trick is to find a reason like our bird friend has – to keep singing all year long!
cheers
Allan and Dawn
P.S. And if that little bird continues to be so grateful so early in the morning – we think we’ll be dreaming about temporarily taking him off the oxygen list for Christmas!
