Don’t Be Embarrassed About Self Interest

by Allan and Dawn on December 31, 2010

You might be saying – Oh no! not another post about the New Year. Ahh but this one is different. Why? Because it’s ours – and funnily enough our stuff is important to us. Now, putting this same thought another way this is why your ‘stuff’ is thousands of times more important to you.

There’s no need for any of us to be embarrassed about this self-interest – we were put on earth with this nature.

So back to the New Year!

Where do you want your dreams to take you in 2011:

  • What did you learn last year?
  • What are you going to do differently this year?
  • Are you prepared to do without to get there?

There is one recurring theme on the internet that continually surprises us. It is the quest by many for the ‘magic formula’ which will result in instant riches. People surprise us because there is no magic formula. There is no instant riches.

And yet time and time again we see folk buying products (usually expensive) from gurus. Often it is the folk who can least afford to spend the money. Do they think that somehow or other the ‘magic formula’ is going to rub off onto them.

If you wish to succeed online then you must acquire an expertise for the area you choose to work within. You can’t jump start at the beginning then get to the finish line without doing the middle bits. Too many folk are beguiled by the ‘oh so clever marketing’ of the gurus. And there is nothing wrong with clever marketing as that’s the name of the game. However, too many folk waste money on expensive products which is just not going to cut it for them. They need to forget about the elusive ‘riches’ that some guru is going to sell them on.

Of course we can benefit from buying products. It is sensible to invest in ourselves. However, always take time to consider whether a product is appropriate for your needs. It is your hard earned money you are handing over.

All of this is certainly not intended to discourage you, quite the opposite. If you are not moving forward with your business as you want – then this can be the year for you.

We all have different strengths. Concentrate on and develop yours.

Make a plan and stick to it.

There are several winning practices common to successful folk. They do things such as:

  • Associate with those who believe in them.
  • Find the right mentor(s).
  • Associate with those who know more than them in their specialty.
  • Stay consistent and persistent until your goals are achieved.

Where are you with these?

This is the perfect year to make the resolution to get your business off the ground.

The very best wishes to you – and may 2011 be your year.

best regards
Allan and Dawn
